6 Steps to Achieving Your Forest Care Plan
Step 1—Do You Qualify for Forest Care?
It's simple. Is your property densely forested? Are some of your trees less than 10 feet apart? If your answer to these questions is yes, you will likely qualify for Forest Care.
Step 2—Contact Forest Care

Step 3—Design Your Forest Care Plan
A professional forester will visit you, answer questions, and verify that your forested property meets the requirements. It's free and there's no obligation. Together, you and the forester will select trees 12" in diameter or smaller to be removed creating a property that is more healthy and fire resistant, yet maintains the beautiful, wooded atmosphere you desire. The forester will also provide a Forest Care agreement that, with your signature, makes you eligible to be reimbursed up to 75% of the cost of implementing your Forest Care plan.
Step 4—Implement Your Forest Care Plan
Thin the trees. You may complete the thinning yourself or you may hire a licensed timber operator to complete your project. Forest Care provides a courtesy list of licensed timber operators qualified to do the work. If you choose to complete the work yourself, Forest Care will reimburse you at a fair market rate for rental costs of items used such as a chain saw, a chipper or a truck. Your labor is not eligible for reimbursement.
Step 5—Claim Your 75% Forest Care Reimbursement
Forest Care reimburses up to 75% of the cost of implementing your plan.
Contact Forest Care when the work is complete and submit invoices and receipts for reimbursement. A forester will visit your property to confirm that the work was done according to the standards of your Forest Care plan.
Step 6—Cash Your Check
Forest Care will send you your reimbursement. You now have a healthier, more fire-safe forest around your home. Congratulations!
